Governernment ban church from not banning gay marriage ban ban

In another surprise U turn the government have agreed to lift the ban on gay marriage but have also pledged to prevent the Church of England from not banning it. Several pressure groups have today lobbied parliament either for the ban or against the ban though it is not clear whether they are for or against the ban or the banning of the ban.

“It’s quite simple really” David Cameron assured a press conference this morning “If a smaller religion want to lift the ban on gay marriage even though there now isn’t one they can or they can’t. But some larger religions can’t lift the ban that’s already there and about to be lifted, or not. So it’s really quite straightforward”

A spokesman from the Church of England told us “Bloody marvellous, we’ve just got round to the idea of gay marriage and now we can’t do it even if we want to. How dare people force us not to do something we originally didn’t want to do, or did…

I’m a little confused now.”

One Tory back bencher told us “This whole situation is terrible. I stopped understanding what was going on ages ago, and I don’t even know what I’m getting hot under the collar about.”

The Government has stressed that the new legislation, that also requires at least one party to the marriage to be sitting on a penguin, is still at the consultation stage.
