The RT Reverend Kieran Conry, whose diocese covers Sussex and Surrey, has resigned this week-end after revelations that he had a girlfriend who was of a similar age and entered into a relationship with him under absolutely no coercion.
The Catholic Bishop of Arundel and Brighton told reporters that he had brought “shame” on the diocese and apologised to those “hurt by my actions and then to all of those inside and outside the diocese who will be shocked, appalled, hurt, saddened and shocked”.
Indeed evidence is mounting that the former Rt Reverend and his significant other,

The RT Reverend, now known simply as Mr Conry, whose resignation took immediate effect, said “I am sorry for the shame that I have brought on the diocese and the Church and I ask for your prayers and forgiveness.”
Cardinal Vincent Nichols, Head of the Catholic Church in England and Wales, said: “This is a sad and painful moment. We expect all our priests to either live a life of chastity or fall off the wagon in a spectacularly inappropriate and illegal fashion. The Vatican is one of the world’s richest countries per head of population but even we can’t cover up one of our priests having a normal girlfriend.”
“We still don’t talk about any of the other stuff” he explained.
