Britain braces itself for hottest weekend on record

Britain is bracing itself for what is likely to be the hottest week-end on record after news from the Met office has suggested that at some stage we are likely to have a weekend hotter than any other weekend that there has ever been before.

High street retailers are thought to be anticipating record sales of sun tan lotion, paddling pools and barbecues with many advising shopping early to avoid disappointment. Should such a blisteringly hot Saturday and Sunday  be in the near future, temperatures are thought likely to top 30, 40 or even 50 degrees depending on which country you are in and whether you measure it in Celcius or Fahrenheit.

One Margate resident told us that should we experience Britain’s  hottest ever weekend it would probably be like one of the week-ends in 1976 but perhaps even warmer.

“It’s great news and not before time. It’s been miserable here over the winter and we deserve a couple of hot days. Not too hot mind. I can’t really handle the heat. Come to think of it I usually move seamlessly from moaning about the cold to the heat without even pausing for breath.” She told us.

UKIP leader Nigel Farage has denounced what he described as ‘continental weather’ and has blamed the Government’s immigration policy for this possibility of a very hot weekend in the future.

“It doesn’t take Einstein to work out that if you start letting immigrants in from hotter countries then it’s going to get hotter over here.” He explained.
