Lib Dem leader Nick Clegg has said that he won’t be voting for himself in next years general election as it would be a wasted vote which at best could only result in a pointless outcome.
Speaking on the Andrew Marr show and then again on Andrew Neil’s political talk show “Afternoon bollocks” the Lib Dem leader and Deputy Prime Minister said “Obviously I would like you the public to vote for me but I certainly won’t be voting for myself. Not with my track record.
“I’ll try my best to get your vote by condemning the coalition that I have been complicit in for the last 4 years, but you can rest assured that given another chance it will be straight back to the same old duplicitous bollocks. And whilst my career depends on you falling for it, I won’t be falling for it myself. Honestly I must think I was born yesterday.”
“I’ve tried to convince myself with a rousing speech at the conference but I know me well enough to know when I’m lying.” he added,
The admittance comes after Mr Clegg received a luke warm reception for his speech that included plans for a graded mansion tax based on human height.
“A man might live alone in a mansion but if he is eight feet tall then his house is only half the size subjectively. Similarly you can put a dwarf in a one bedroomed flat then it is the same size as a stately home through their little eyes.” he explained.
One Lib Dem delegate we spoke to however had given the speech a standing ovation. “It’s only polite to do a bit of clapping.” he told us.
“I think I might vote Green this time though.”
